Description
Don’t believe all the Hype! or be blinded by their Smoke.. there can only be one “best” Micro sprint injection system.
FTZ Electronic Fuel Injection!
We set out to do “electronic” right!
Born of being dissatisfied with all the micro sprint injection systems available, we spent many hard weeks of intense development to be able to offer our own fuel injection packages for the 600 Micro sprint motors.. borrowing on the best traits of those systems that came before,we have made the best of all worlds… offering the best low-end power, best top-end power, and the best electronics package. and yes we have tested the latest systems on the market, and all proved to make far less hp & torque in back to back dyno testing.
•Throttle Bodies: We use the excellent 2008-2016 Yamaha R6r throttle bodies with moving velocity stacks technology, same as the cutting edge new 220+ hp Ducati V4). This is the latest in motorcycle resonant pulse tuning technology. Yamaha got it “right” with this design. A fixed stack is only right over a narrow rpm band… and running different length fixed stacks is just a band-aid and no substitute for moving stacks. It just means those cylinders are “right” at certain rpms and “wrong” at others, depressing overall power. We have proven this time and again in our years of dyno testing. On the dyno, when the stacks open on our system the motor sounds like it got a shot of nitrous or boost! (These are now legal in Stock class, A class, Non wing and Restrictor for the all black Yamahas!)
In Micro sprint racing a wider powerband is more important than a peak HP or torque number. Everyone has to slow down for corners and traffic, and a good wide powerband is what will yank you off a slow corner and keep it ripping to the end of the straights.. giving you a real edge over the guy beside you..
We do away with the heavy throttle by wire motor and the throttle is controlled direct by the cable and the drivers foot.
•Injectors: We use 8 properly sized injectors- (just as modern 4 cylinder race bikes have for over 17 years now.) Secondary injectors mounted above the stacks just make more power, period… or else the OEM’s wouldn’t go to the trouble & expense (and neither would we.) Another advantage is you have your WOT fuel delivery split 8 ways. If you run 4 large injectors and one goes down say 10% then you suddenly have a big problem. Same if your injector tune is off by just a few milliseconds.. then your total tune can be way off.
We chose to use the best racing-grade alcohol rated injectors, made from stainless steel components and they are rated at over 100psi. We normally run them at 85psi for maximum atomization. Other systems commonly use cheap automotive gasoline injectors only rated for 64psi max..
•Electronics: It was 6 years ago now that we chose to use only the best ECU available, the Performance Electronics PE3. No re-flashed stock ECU will come close to the features available with the PE3. It has fully accessible set up & compensation tables (most all of which we have overwritten to better suit the 600 micro’s). So not it’s just spark timing & fuel tables that is available to tune- it’s everything from cold startup, to coil charge times, to voltage drop compensation, and even injector timing can be accessed and tuned.. along with a myriad of trick options such as a fuel trim switch on the dash, or even a switch for a total map swap. We also have set ups for controlling radiator fans, safety auto-shutoff for fuel pumps, and can-bus connections to stream all PE3 data to a Mychron.
The PE3 also has built in diagnostics, along with signalling you with any system error, you can easily static test every sensor, every coil & every injector to check their firing, or pull up their signals on a graphic display on your laptop. So rest easy if you have a problem as simple as a yanked wire, as it can be founds in minutes.
Using the PE3 data-logging feature combined with our lambda controller we can pull up data logged from previous races to check everything from max rpms to coolant & oil temps, as well as air/fuel ratio during the race.. Then there is the awesome “color-tune” feature where the race’s air/fuel Lambda value is overlaid over your fuel table to tell us exactly where the map needs to be richened or leaned out.
You don’t get features like that from any stock ECU, you are lucky if you even get to adjust the ignition timing. These features have allowed us to send systems to race teams as far away as Australia, Hawaii, California & Washington State and subsequently been able to tune these guys better than if we had their car here in the dyno room, as these tunes are then perfectly tuned on their car and at their racetrack..
•Power: In our extensive dyno testing our EFI package has consistently made more power off the corner than similar R6r or Yama-zuki systems, and more topend power over all fixed-stack 4 injector systems… and that has been verified on Yamaha’s, Suzuki’s, Kawasaki’s- from stock 599cc to full built Outlaw motors.. you name it… We accumulated several thousand dyno runs testing on this system and on the others…and we didn’t do all this to work be second best.
FTZ Performance is engine people– and always have been.. we have been finding the best way to flow air & fuel into these 600 motors for 25 years now.. We don’t sell wings, shocks, axles or bumpers- we only sell HORSEPOWER! Rely on our four decades of experience (that’s decades, not years) in motorcycle engine pulse/ram tuning & airflow expertise to extract the most power from your motor, and do it with an affordable, consistent, easy to use & trouble-free EFI system- using only the best top-shelf injectors & fuel system components combined with the best in electronics, combined with full-on customer support.
Complete packages starting at $3795..
We are taking orders for upcoming season now…
So please get with us about your NEW options in electronic fuel injection for 2022!
**With the current NOW600 Series rules for Stock classes such as A class, non-wing and restrictor classes,
it now will be legal to use the PE3 electronics.. that’s great news! …and we now got that covered!
