This is a brand new fuel pump to replace the Walbro pumps micro sprint guys have ran for years..
The first thing we liked about this pump is the fact that it uses full size 6AN fittings instead of the tiny 10mm fittings other pumps use. In our dyno testing we have found those to be the cause of a fuel pressure drop at full load.. this won’t happen with this unit..
They also comes with full size #10 power & ground terminal studs and even comes with stainless steel lock-nuts & rubber covers.
This is a pump built by a US company for performance applications using stainless steel and built for use with E85 blended fuels, so they hold up well for methanol. Many micro sprint guys we know used to bolt on a new fuel pump every few months, afraid of a failure.. we see this pump as a game changer to having to do that.
They are rated for 2000 hours of automotive use, so we think they will be good for a good while.. and many we have sold have over 2 or 3 seasons on them- but understand the killer of any fuel system part is to let alcohol sit in the system, especially mixed with air and worse yet allowed to dry out- so this is not to be construed as a guarantee.. (sorry, you still have to do your race car maintenance.)
This pump will handle high pressures for any EFI system (our EFI runs at 85psi) and will flow enough for several hundred HP..
**We had a couple recent emails from customers concerned that the paperwork from the manufacturer of the pumps states these pumps are “not” methanol compatible… Well I think after 5 seasons of 600 micro sprint guys all over the nation running these same pumps, we have proven they are very much “compatible”. In 2015 we were desperate to find a lost cost reliable pump to replace the Walbro’s (and others) …and thankfully this one has worked out even better than we had ever hoped.. I get that the manufacturer warranty dept doesn’t want to deal with some pump all caked up with methanol residue… But facts are facts..we have proven these work great and for a long time with a minimum of common sense maintenance applied.. Just don’t let methanol set in your fuel system until it dries out and draws a bunch of moisture and forms that white crust.. Run your car a couple times a week, or flush with gasoline, or drain and flush the system if it is going to be stored a while.. Geez, same as always running alcohol… …and the truth is that white residue will get to the injectors (or your carbs) long before affecting the pumps operation..
This item number includes the new style pump and comes with both -6AN fuel line adapter fittings..
we can also substitute a -8AN fitting on the inlet side for those cars plumbed with -8 to the pump..
just send a email when ordering requesting that to ftzracing@gmail.com.
These pictures show the restrictive (blue) fittings used in the popular Walbro pumps.. these have been proven to cause fuel a sizable fuel pressure drop during full load.
